1. Global Semiconductor Market Expected to Grow by 16.3% in 2022

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization has recently forecasted that the global semiconductor market is expected to reach $646 billion in 2022, marking a 16.3% increase compared to 2021, and is projected to continue growing by 5.1% in 2023.

2. United Kingdom: Fast Charging Costs for Electric Cars Rise 21% in Eight Months

The average cost of charging an electric car using public fast-charging stations has increased by 21% since September due to rising electricity prices. Currently, the average cost per mile for fast charging is 10 pounds, up from 8 pounds per mile in September of last year. Despite the increase, the cost of electric charging still remains less than half the cost of refueling a gasoline-powered car.

3. Diodes Incorporated Completes Acquisition of ONSEMI’s Wafer Fabrication & Operations Facility

As previously announced, Diodes has integrated with the manufacturing and operations facility in South Portland (SPFAB), including the transition of SPFAB employees to Diodes. As part of the multi-year wafer supply agreement, Diodes will continue to produce ONSEMI’s products at SPFAB while onsemi completes the transfer of this manufacturing to its other wafer fabrication facilities.
