Nuvoton - MUG51 Series: Power microcontroller based on embedded Flash 1T 8051 core

The MUG51 operates at speeds up to 7.3728 MHz, featuring 16 Kbytes of embedded Flash memory, 1 Kbyte of embedded SRAM, and a 4 Kbyte Flash loader (LDROM). It supports a wide operating voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V and an operating temperature range from -40°C to 105°C.

Designed for low-power applications, the MUG51 offers an impressively low current consumption of 200 μA during CPU power-up, even before Flash memory initialization. This makes it especially suitable for battery-less devices such as EMR (Electromagnetic Resonance) stylus pens and RFID cards, which rely on energy harvesting from electromagnetic fields. In normal operating mode at 7.3728 MHz, the current consumption is less than 1.3 mA, and in power-down mode, it drops below 1 μA. These low-power features give the MUG51 a significant advantage in energy-constrained applications where power must be harvested wirelessly, such as EMR-powered styluses and RFID devices.
