WP8721 – Secondary Protection IC for Li-ion Batteries A supplementary protection solution designed to ensure battery safety in case the primary protection circuit fails. The WP8721 is equipped with extended overcurrent detection and cutoff functions, which help prevent potential hazards caused by prolonged overcurrent conditions.

Featuring overtemperature protection, the IC safeguards the battery and device by actively preventing overheating incidents. With an ultra-low quiescent current of just 5 µA (max at 25°C) and a low NMOS on-resistance of 13 mΩ, the WP8721 delivers both power efficiency and stable performance. This IC from Wayon is capable of protecting 5 to 7 battery cells, making it an ideal choice for applications such as laptops, e-bikes, and Li-ion battery packs.
