1. Germany Plans to Invest 14 Billion Euros to Attract Chip Manufacturers
The German government aims to attract more chip manufacturers to invest in chip production within the country by allocating 14 billion euros (approximately 14.71 billion USD). The reason behind this plan is the global chip shortage and supply chain issues, which are causing disruptions for industries such as automotive manufacturers, healthcare service providers, telecommunications operators, and more, as the demand for chips continues to rise.
2. 3D Metal Printing Offers New Opportunities for HP
The challenge with 3D printing plastics is competing with injection molding, which is currently the most efficient technology worldwide. HP and other manufacturers have been experimenting with 3D printing using different materials like high-temperature glass and fabric. However, these solutions will take a few more years to become commercially viable.
3. Onsemi Introduces World’s First SiC MOSFET Packaged in TOLL
Onsemi has recently unveiled the world’s first silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET packaged in TO-Leadless (TOLL) format, catering to applications with high demand in the market. These applications include switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), server power supplies, telecom power supplies, solar energy inverters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and energy storage systems. This device is suitable for designs that require meeting the highest efficiency standards such as ErP and 80 PLUS Titanium.
