1. Murata Announces Construction of New Manufacturing Facility in Vietnam

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has announced the establishment of a subsidiary company in Vietnam in June 2022. The new manufacturing facility will have a total investment of 4.32 billion yen, covering an area of 5,486 square meters with a total floor area of 22,637 square meters. It is expected to be completed by August 2023.

2. Infineon Introduces High-Resolution 3D Image Sensor ISO26262-Compatible for the World’s First Automotive Application

Infineon Technologies AG has unveiled the second-generation REAL3™ automotive image sensor, a high-resolution 3D image sensor complying with the ISO26262 standard, developed in collaboration with 3D time-of-flight system experts, pmdtechnologies. The camera can detect distracted and fatigued drivers, enabling the development of driver monitoring systems with secure 3D facial recognition using a single ToF camera.

3. Component Prices Continue to Rise, Immediate Preparation Needed

The shortage of electronic components may worsen, leading to an increase in electronics prices throughout this year and potentially until late 2023 before prices begin to decline. Manufacturers should prepare immediately for price hikes, extended production times, and ongoing challenges within the supply chain in the future.
